Our Favorite Supplies for Your New Lab Puppy
Bringing home a puppy is exciting and a little overwhelming, too. The good news is you don’t need a house full of stuff; you just need the right stuff. Below are our go-to supply recommendations for English White Labrador puppies, the same items we use and trust here at Hidden Oak Labradors. They’re practical, puppy-tested, and they make the early weeks so much easier for both you and your new best friend.
Nutrition We Trust: TLC Pet Food
We recommend TLC Pet Food for all of our puppies because it supports healthy growth, strong digestion, and a shiny, happy Lab coat. It’s a premium-quality food made with natural ingredients, and it arrives fresh right to your door. It also makes feeding simple, consistent, and stress-free, which is exactly what you want when you’re adjusting to life with a new puppy.

Puppy Essentials for White Labs: The Basics That Make Life Easier
These are the supplies we recommend most often because they help with the big things, like potty training, boundaries, and giving your puppy a safe place to rest. If you start with these essentials, you’ll feel more prepared the moment your English White Lab puppy comes home.
We begin gentle crate exposure around 6 weeks old, and it makes the transition home much smoother. Crates are one of the best tools for potty training because puppies naturally avoid going where they sleep. The key is choosing the right size, so your puppy has room to stand up and stretch out, but not so much room that accidents happen in one corner.
- Females: 36” crate
- Males: 42” crate
Our dogs absolutely love Kuranda beds, and they’re a great option for puppies too. Unlike fluffy pillow beds, which most puppies treat like a personal shredding project, Kuranda beds are durable, easy to clean, and comfortable. The Silver Aluminum Kuranda Dog Bed holds up incredibly well, and the 40×25 size works beautifully for adult Labs, too.
Puppy Must-Haves: Favorite Toys & Grooming Tools
These are the fun extras that quickly become everyday favorites. From comfort toys to grooming tools, these items help keep your puppy entertained, well-groomed, and feeling secure as they settle into their new home.
If your puppy is staying with us for training, you’ll want a clicker and a treat bag ready to go. We use the clicker to mark good behaviors clearly, which helps puppies learn faster and builds great communication between you and your dog. There are lots of treat bags out there, but this style is one of our favorites because it’s easy and practical for everyday training.
Nail trims are one of those little things that matter more than people realize. Keeping nails short helps with comfort and prevents injury. If you’re trimming at home, only snip the small hook off the end of the nail. If you’re nervous about hitting the quick, your vet or groomer can show you the safest way to do it.
Your puppy will need a collar that’s secure, adjustable, and comfortable. It should fit snugly without being tight. A good rule of thumb is that you should be able to fit two fingers between the collar and your puppy’s neck.
- Most puppies go home in 8”-10” collars
- Puppies staying for training until 12 weeks typically wear 11”-12” collars

Not all toys are created equal, and when it comes to puppies, durability and safety matter. We recommend sturdy toys that are appropriately sized and built to last. Cheap toys can break apart quickly, which can become a choking risk. A well-made toy will keep your puppy entertained while helping with teething and mental stimulation.
Here are some of our favorites:
- Kong Bear
- Nylabone Puppy Ring
- Interactive Treat Dispenser
- Rope Toy
- Kong Wubba
